the last Smoky Os

Etta and Miles made some nice babies together.  It really is sad to loose any fish, but another female lost  just blows.  I'll miss you.
But you babies will live on.

Make lemonade...

It's been a rough couple of weeks.  I lost the female Latz that was paired up with the widowed male Darwin.  Poor guy, he's lost out twice now.  I got a few potential females from other hobbyist, but they were too small.  After a week by himself in the anemone,  he was not about to give it up.  Things tend to go from bad to worse around here lately.  Then I lost Etta, the female Sanjay's photon that was paired with Miles the Darwin.  So no more Smoky-Os.  I wasted no time in pairing Miles up with the male darwin that will now be the female.  Miles is the only darwin that isn't from Koko and Satchmo, my originals.  They seem to be getting on nicely.

Orcas spawning

I've removed the tang that I suspect was eating the eggs.  Hopefully this will be the first clutch of the Orcas.

Black Os

Finally, these f1 Darwins are starting to spawn.  Looks like I'm not the only one who noticed.  That red cardinal is in the next tank, eyes fixed on the pair.

YWG

Looks like Fred and Wilma are at it again.  Maybe these eggs will have a chance since Sylvester has a mouth full of eggs already.

Fish fornicating

I just cleaned the tanks, and normally that might discourage spawning.  Not these two. Within minutes of my intrusion I saw this.  It always seems that there are more eggs than the male can fit in his mouth.  You can see a string of eggs hanging from the female.
